Visitor Super Puma

Hangar 3 welcomed a very special visitor last week – the first serial-production Super Puma, originally built in 1979.

Affectionately known as "Obelix" by its crew, the aircraft earned its nickname from its registration, LN-OBX, a nod to the famous character from the Asterix comics. To complete the theme, an Obelix figurine proudly sits in the cockpit as the crew's mascot.

Despite being over four decades old, this remarkable helicopter remains a highly capable workhorse. Equipped with a cargo hook, it can lift more than 4,000 kg, making it particularly well suited to demanding offshore operations where heavy lifting is essential.

It was a pleasure to host this iconic aircraft at Hangar 3, and we look forward to welcoming Obelix and its crew back again in the future.
